Jeffrey Streets is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Irvine, where he has been a faculty member since 2011. Streets earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Duke University in 2007, with a thesis on Ricci Yang-Mills flow under the advisement of Professor Mark Stern. Prior to joining UCI, he served as an Instructor in the Department of Mathematics at Princeton University from 2007 to 2011.
Streets' research specializes in geometric analysis, with significant contributions to the study of geometric flows such as the Ricci flow and pluriclosed flow. He has published numerous articles in prestigious journals, including Communications in Analysis and Geometry, the Journal of the European Mathematical Society, and Advances in Mathematics. Streets has been awarded several grants from the National Science Foundation for his research, including projects on geometric flows and their applications. He was named a Simons Fellow in Mathematics for 2022-2023 and was a Sloan Research Fellow from 2013 to 2015.
At UCI, Streets teaches various courses in mathematics and has been recognized for his mentorship, receiving the Mathematics Department Faculty Mentor Award in 2020-21. He has supervised several Ph.D. students, guiding them through their doctoral research. Streets is actively involved in the academic community, having co-organized numerous seminars and workshops, including the Southern California Geometric Analysis Seminar. He also participates in outreach activities, such as speaking at mathematics clubs and mentoring programs.
