Aydin Eresen

Assistant Researcher, Dept. of Radiological Sciences, University of California, Irvine

Biography

Aydin Eresen, Ph.D., is an Assistant Researcher in the Department of Radiological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. Eresen's research focuses on developing and applying advanced MRI techniques and machine learning methods to monitor and predict therapeutic responses in cancer treatment, particularly for hepatocellular carcinoma and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. His work integrates medical imaging with immunotherapy approaches, including natural killer cell-based treatments and dendritic cell vaccines, often in combination with interventional procedures such as irreversible electroporation ablation.

Eresen has served as principal investigator on grants from the Society of Interventional Radiology Foundation and the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, and has submitted multiple NIH grant applications as principal investigator. He has also contributed as co-investigator on an active NIH R01 grant focused on MRI-guided dendritic cell vaccination strategies for pancreatic cancer. His research has resulted in over 40 peer-reviewed journal publications and numerous conference presentations at venues including the Society of Interventional Radiology and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.

Eresen received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2018, where his dissertation focused on detection of MRI biomarkers for Golden Retriever Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He serves on the editorial review boards of Cancer Control, Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence, and Academic Radiology, and has served as a reviewer for over 100 scientific journals. At UC Irvine, he has co-mentored numerous undergraduate and graduate students in biological sciences and biomedical engineering.
