Biography

Anjalee Warrier Mitra Galion, M.D., is President of the CHOC Medical Staff, Chief Wellness Officer for CHOC Health System, and Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor, Step III at the University of California, Irvine. She serves as President of the Medical Staff at Children's Hospital of Orange County, Director of Sleep Neurology for CHOC Pediatric Subspecialty Faculty, and Associate Director of the CHOC Children's Comprehensive Sleep Program. Galion holds board certifications in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology, Pediatrics, and Sleep Medicine. She completed her M.D. at New Jersey Medical School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, followed by pediatric residency at University of California, San Francisco at Fresno, pediatric neurology fellowship at University of California, Irvine, and sleep medicine fellowship at University of California, Los Angeles. She earned an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.

Dr. Galion has served as a Delegate to the American Medical Association House of Delegates from the California Medical Association and chairs the CMA Council on Medical Services. She was appointed National Co-Chair for the Sleep Workgroup of the Autism Treatment Network, leading a national task force to update guidelines for treatment of insomnia in children with autism. She was selected as one of ten physicians nationally for the Autism Treatment Network Task Force to write guidelines for sleep disturbance in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and was appointed to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine National Task Force to write the position paper for home sleep apnea testing in the pediatric population, published in 2017. She founded and serves as Founder and President of the Women Physicians Impact Network Group at CHOC. Based on Dr. Galion's body of work in medicine, healthcare advocacy, and community service she was named a 2025-2026 Obama Foundation Leader of the United States and in 2026 she was chosen as a Champion for the Obama Foundation Leaders Network.

Dr. Galion's clinical and research work focuses on pediatric sleep medicine and neurology, particularly in children with autism and epilepsy. She serves as Pediatric Sleep Medicine Director and Site Director for the UCLA Sleep Medicine Fellowship pediatric component at CHOC. She has published in journals including the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, and the New England Journal of Medicine as a collaborator on the THAPCA trials. She received specialized training in clinical trials methods through the National Institutes of Health-National Institute of Neurologic Disorders and Stroke.
