Amir Imanzadeh
Biography
Amir Imanzadeh, M.D., is Assistant Professor and Interim Division Chief of Cardiothoracic in the Department of Radiology at the University of California, Irvine. He received his M.D. from Tehran University of Medical Sciences and completed an integrated interventional and diagnostic radiology residency at Yale University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in thoracoabdominal imaging at UCLA. Before joining UC Irvine in 2022, Imanzadeh held postdoctoral research positions at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Tehran University of Medical Sciences, where his work focused on medical 3D printing, imaging biomarkers, and immunology.
Imanzadeh has contributed to the development of medical 3D printing applications in radiology, with early research examining image segmentation techniques, quality metrics for 3D-printed models, and clinical applications including face transplantation planning and cardiovascular imaging. His work has also addressed contrast enhancement protocols in CT angiography, automated detection algorithms for pulmonary embolism, and quality assessment in prostate MRI. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and presented more than 60 abstracts at national and international meetings.
Imanzadeh serves on multiple committees for the Society of Abdominal Radiology, Society of Advanced Body Imaging, and Society of Thoracic Radiology, including roles on the Early Career Committee and disease-focused panels. He is Vice Chair of the Early Career Committee for the Society of Advanced Body Imaging and serves on the editorial board for RadExam at the American College of Radiology. At UC Irvine, he directs the medical student course in cardiothoracic imaging and chairs the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Imaging Faculty Recruitment Committee.
