Antoine N. Soliman, M.D., is Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at PIH Good Samaritan Hospital, Regional Medical Director of the Neonatal Network at Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach, and Health Sciences Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine. He received his Doctor of Medicine from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and completed his fellowship training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and research fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at UCLA School of Medicine/Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He has served as Division Chief of Neonatology and Medical Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach since 2014, and as Site Director of the Neonatal/Perinatal Fellowship Training Program for the joint University of California Irvine/Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach fellowship program since 2016.
Soliman has served as principal investigator or site principal investigator on multiple NIH-funded studies, including research on environmental influences on neurodevelopmental outcomes in very preterm infants, neonatal neurobehavior and outcomes in very preterm infants, and the impact of exercise on body composition in premature infants. He received an NIH Pediatric Research Loan Repayment Award for his work on the role of Toll-like receptors in the pathogenesis of necrotizing enterocolitis. His research has been published in journals including Pediatrics, PLoS ONE, Cell Host & Microbe, and Scientific Reports, with a focus on neonatal outcomes, necrotizing enterocolitis, and epigenetic factors affecting preterm infant development.
Soliman received the David D. Wirtschafter Quality Improvement Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics, California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative, and California Association of Neonatologists in 2014, and was a finalist for the same award in 2010. He has held numerous committee positions, including Chair of the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative Data Interface & Opportunities Committee and board member of the California Association of Neonatologists.
