Biography

Dr. Andriy V. Yeromin is an Associate Project Scientist in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics and the Vaccine Research and Development Center at the University of California, Irvine. He received his Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine in 2001. Yeromin co-discovered the molecular and biophysical mechanism of calcium release-activated channels (CRAC), a fundamental machinery for cellular signaling in mammals, contributing to multiple publications in Nature and PNAS that identified STIM1 and Orai1 as essential components of store-operated calcium channel function.

Yeromin has over 20 years of international experience in research on membrane protein physiology and pharmacology. His work has focused on understanding the structure and function of CRAC channels, including studies on Orai channel stoichiometry, nanoscale patterning during store-operated calcium entry, and functional heterogeneity in STIM1-Orai1 puncta. He has also contributed to research on calcium signaling in immune cells, particularly regulatory T cells, and on mitochondrial zinc accumulation in neuronal injury.

Yeromin has authored 19 peer-reviewed publications in journals including Nature, PNAS, and the Journal of General Physiology, as well as two book chapters. His technical expertise spans flow cytometry, patch-clamp electrophysiology, multi-photon imaging, molecular biology, and cell culture techniques. He has also served as a scientific consultant for Vivreon Biosciences and holds a patent related to CRAC channel modulator screening methods.
