Brian Becerra

Biography

Brian Becerra, M.D., is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Director of the Sports Cardiology Program in General Cardiology at the University of California, Irvine. He completed his cardiology fellowship at UC Irvine in 2024, where he also completed his internal medicine residency and served as Chief Resident of Quality and Safety at the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center in Long Beach. Becerra received his Doctor of Medicine from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in 2017.

Becerra holds board certifications in internal medicine, general cardiology, echocardiography, and cardiac CT. His clinical and research interests span sports cardiology, cardiac imaging, and quality improvement in healthcare delivery. He has contributed to research on cardiovascular disease in special populations, including studies on cardiac biomarkers in kidney disease and stroke risk factors related to cardiac anatomy.

Becerra serves on the Sports Cardiology Committee of the California Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society. He has presented his work at multiple regional and national conferences, including the International Stroke Conference and the Care of the Athletic Heart conference.
