Beatrice Malvar

Biography

Beatrice Malvar, B.S., is a Junior Specialist in the Yuki Lab at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Her work focuses on developing novel liquid embolic materials and testing their safety and performance through small animal surgeries and embolization procedures. She also contributes to quality improvement projects for aneurysm patient follow-up compliance and develops in-vitro arteriovenous malformation models for embolization research.

Malvar received her B.S. in Neurobiology from the University of California, Irvine in 2024. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a Research Assistant in the Prescher Lab, where she contributed to the development and characterization of engineered bioluminescent luciferase enzymes. This work resulted in a co-authored publication in ACS Publications and was supported by a grant from the UC Irvine Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program.

Malvar has presented her research at multiple conferences, including the UC Irvine Undergraduate Research Symposium and the annual meeting of the Japanese Society of Neuroendovascular Therapy. She has co-authored several publications and preprints on liquid embolic materials and bioluminescent systems. During her undergraduate years, she served as President of Friends of MSF and held various mentoring and tutoring positions, including Learning Assistant for biology and chemistry courses and Peer Tutor for general chemistry.
