Christopher Paul Epple

Biography

Christopher Paul Epple is an Associate Specialist in the Department of Otolaryngology-Audiology at the University of California, Irvine Health Sciences. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Carleton College with studies in Technology and Public Policy. Epple has been with UCI Health Sciences since 2011, progressing from Junior Specialist to his current position, where he focuses on integrating technology into audiological care and tinnitus management.

Epple's work centers on applying artificial intelligence and digital technologies to audiology, particularly for tinnitus treatment and hearing aid optimization. He has developed telemedicine and internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy approaches for tinnitus treatment, and has worked to expand audiological services across multiple UCI locations. His background includes over a decade in information technology management and consulting, where he directed multi-million dollar systems development projects and managed enterprise-level IT infrastructure.

Prior to his academic career, Epple served as IT Manager at FastFunds Financial Corporation, where he orchestrated complete systems development lifecycles and directed the implementation of clustered server environments for real-time financial transactions. He has also worked as an independent technology consultant for various institutions, including the University of California, Irvine and the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois, Chicago. In 2019, he received the UCI Healthcare Hero Certificate of Recognition from UCI Health Advancement.
