Charles H. Li
Biography
Charles H. Li, M.D., is Assistant Clinical Professor, Step III, in the Department of Radiological Sciences, Neuroradiology Section, at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Li's clinical and research interests span neuroradiology, with particular focus on artificial intelligence applications in neuroimaging and medical education innovation. He received his M.D. from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed his diagnostic radiology residency and neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Southern California.
Li serves as Director of Physician Wellness for the Department of Radiological Sciences and Director of the medical student neuroradiology elective at UC Irvine School of Medicine. He founded the California Neuroradiology Club in 2022, a monthly virtual meeting platform for California neuroradiology sections to discuss educational cases. Li was elected Social Media Chair for the Western Neuroradiological Society in 2024 and has contributed to multiple studies examining the role of artificial intelligence in improving diagnostic accuracy for medical trainees and the application of large language models in generating accessible radiology reports.
Li holds board certification from the American Board of Radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology. His early research in fungal pathogenesis at Duke University resulted in a first-author publication in PLoS Pathogens that was selected as the journal's cover photo. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters, with research contributions spanning neurosurgery outcomes, interventional radiology techniques, and the integration of digital technologies in medical education and clinical practice.
