Biography
Lillian C. Chow, M.D., is HS Associate Clinical Professor, Step 2, at UC Irvine Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Medicine from UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2008 and completed her Internal Medicine residency, Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine fellowship, and Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Her clinical and research focus centers on critical care medicine, sepsis, and pulmonary disease, with particular attention to underserved populations.
Dr. Chow served as Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at SUNY Downstate Medical Center from 2016 to 2022, where she worked with hospital leadership on disaster and surge planning during the COVID-19 pandemic and developed protocols for peripheral vasopressor administration and protocolized DKA treatment. Her research has examined inflammation and biomarkers in sepsis, COVID-19 outcomes in Afro-Caribbean populations, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She has served as co-principal investigator on studies investigating red blood cell S-nitrosylation in severe sepsis and ICU outcomes in COVID-19.
Dr. Chow has published peer-reviewed articles and one book chapter on animal models of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She has delivered invited lectures internationally, including presentations on cardiogenic shock and neurogenic shock at the INDUSEM World Academic Congress of Emergency Medicine in Sri Lanka, and maintains an active role in medical education for internal medicine residents and pulmonary/critical care fellows.
