Daniel Kang
Biography
Daniel Kang, M.D., M.Ed., F.A.A.P., is Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. In his role as Assistant Dean, Kang oversees more than 75 residency and fellowship programs at UC Irvine, ensuring compliance with ACGME, organizational, and institutional regulations. He received his M.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and his Master of Education in the Health Professions from Johns Hopkins School of Professional Studies in Business and Education.
Kang has held multiple administrative positions in graduate medical education at UC Irvine, including Interim Program Director and Associate Program Director for the UC Irvine/Children's Hospital of Orange County Pediatric Residency Program. He currently serves as Director of Recruitment and Retention for the pediatric residency program, where he helped develop a holistic review process for applicants and provides faculty development workshops on interviewing strategies and mitigating bias. He is Co-Chair of the UC Irvine Graduate Medical Education Committee and has served on numerous institutional committees focused on medical education and trainee selection.
As a double board-certified pediatric hospitalist, Kang practices hospital medicine at CHOC Children's Hospital while maintaining an active role in medical education. He directs the Medical Education Track for pediatric residents, serves as a ZotUnity Career Advisor for medical students, and regularly teaches residents and medical students through clinical rounds and didactic sessions. His scholarly work focuses on coaching in graduate medical education, feedback mechanisms, and standardization of medical education experiences.
