Erin H. Lin
Biography
Erin H. Lin, DO, FACOS, FACS, is Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of California Irvine Health and School of Medicine, where she specializes in breast surgical oncology. She serves as Co-Leader of the Breast Cancer Disease Oriented Treatment Research Committee at UC Irvine Health Medical Center and Pacific Breast Care Center, where she reviews IRB protocols and collaborates with researchers on breast cancer studies. Lin received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences in 2009, completed her general surgery residency at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente from 2009 to 2014, and completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at University of California Irvine Health in 2015.
Lin has contributed to research published in Nature and other journals, including work on spatially resolved single cell genomic atlases of the adult human breast and pre-neoplastic stromal cells in BRCA1-mediated breast tumorigenesis. Her clinical research focuses on health disparities in breast cancer, including studies examining disaggregated Asian American data to reveal disparities in pathologic complete response after neoadjuvant chemotherapy for triple-negative breast cancer and the impact of race on perioperative outcomes in men undergoing breast surgery. She has participated in multiple clinical trials, including serving as principal investigator at the UC Irvine site for the SWOG S1904 trial on chemoprevention decision support and as co-investigator on studies involving intraoperative radiation therapy and neoadjuvant chemotherapy response prediction.
Lin has participated in medical missions to Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, and Ethiopia, providing surgical care and education to local physicians and medical students. She has delivered numerous community presentations on breast cancer awareness to diverse populations, including Chinese American, Vietnamese American, Korean American, and African American communities. Before entering medicine, Lin worked as a software analyst and business owner, holding a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from North Central College.
