Biography

Gillian R. Hayes, Ph.D., is Robert A. and Barbara L. Kleist Professor of Informatics and Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate Division at the University of California, Irvine. An international scholar in the field of human-computer interaction, Hayes has spent over two decades studying the design and deployment of interactive technologies to support individuals with disabilities, chronic health conditions, and other marginalized populations.

Hayes is an elected member of the ACM SIGCHI Academy and a Distinguished Member of the Association for Computing Machinery. She has received numerous honors including the ACM SIGCHI Social Impact Award, the NSF CAREER Award, and the Jacobs Foundation Advanced Research Fellowship. Hayes serves on the Board of Directors of the Computing Research Association and has held leadership roles in major computing conferences and organizations.

Hayes received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University. Her research focuses on accessibility, autism technologies, mobile health systems, and the social implications of computing technologies in educational and healthcare settings.
