Hayley B. Kristinsson, PsyD, ABPP-CN, is Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor, Associate Director of Neuropsychology, Co-Director of Training for the Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology, and Chair of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism, Social Justice (IDEAS) Committee in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, Irvine. She is also faculty in the UCI MIND Clinical Core. She received her Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree from Wright State University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the Sports Concussion Institute. Kristinsson earned board certification in clinical neuropsychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology in 2023. Her clinical work focuses on the neuropsychology of aging and neurodegenerative diseases, including specialty evaluations of patients with Alzheimer's disease who are candidates for anti-amyloid monoclonal antibody therapy.
Kristinsson has developed and directs multiple training programs at UC Irvine, including the Neuropsychology Practicum Training Program and an accredited postdoctoral fellowship program through the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology. She has supervised over 30 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in clinical neuropsychology training. As Chair of the IDEAS Committee, she co-developed the Diversity in Neurology Academy, a program designed to increase diversity in neurology and neuroscience fields.
Kristinsson's research examines cognitive assessment methods and validity testing in neuropsychological evaluation. She serves as principal investigator on studies investigating blood biomarkers and cognitive performance in Alzheimer's disease treatment, and co-investigator on projects developing forced choice validity measures for memory tests. She has contributed to research on premorbid ability estimation, cognitive functioning in serious mental illness, and fall risk assessment in older adults. Kristinsson serves on the Legislative Action and Advocacy Committee of the National Academy of Neuropsychology and co-chairs the Addressing Ageism and Attitudes Towards Aging Special Interest Group for APA Division 20.
