Jacqueline Huynh
Biography
Jacqueline Huynh, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. She received her Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2020. Her research focuses on aircraft noise modeling and environmental impacts of aviation systems, with particular emphasis on advanced operational flight procedures and emerging aircraft technologies including Advanced Air Mobility vehicles and distributed electric propulsion systems.
Huynh has secured over $900,000 in research funding to UC Irvine as principal investigator or co-principal investigator, including projects with NASA, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Air Force. Her work includes developing noise modeling frameworks for blended wing body aircraft, distributed electric propulsion systems, and Advanced Air Mobility vehicles, as well as validating noise abatement procedures for conventional aircraft. She has collaborated extensively with industry partners including Electra.aero, JetZero, and Boeing, and serves as a consultant on noise analysis for electric aircraft.
Huynh received the Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship in 2018 and the Department of Transportation/FAA Center of Excellence Outstanding Student of the Year Award in 2018. She was co-winner of the AAAE/ACC/AIAA Jay Hollingsworth Speas Award in 2025 and received the AIAA V/STOL Best of Sessions Paper Award in both 2025 and 2026. She serves as Vice President of Sigma Gamma Tau National Aerospace Honor Society and is a member of the AIAA Acoustics Technical Committee, the AIAA Sustainable Aviation Working Group Committee, and the John Wayne Airport AAM advisory committee.
