Ichiro Yuki
Biography
Ichiro Yuki, M.D., is Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UC Irvine Medical Center and holds an adjunct appointment as Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at The Jikei University in Japan. Yuki received his M.D. from The Jikei University School of Medicine and completed clinical fellowships in interventional radiology at UCLA. His work focuses on endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, including brain aneurysms and acute stroke, with particular emphasis on developing novel medical devices and liquid embolic materials.
Yuki has been principal investigator on multiple research grants, including an NIH SBIR/STTR grant from the National Cancer Institute for development of a water-based liquid embolic agent for treatment of vascular tumors. He has also received funding from the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science for development of novel embolic materials. In 2020, Yuki founded AquaTeX Medical, Inc., a Delaware C-Corp focused on developing liquid embolic systems for neurovascular treatment, serving as Chief Executive Officer. The company has received recognition including first prize at the Triple Bridge Acceleration Program Innovation Contest and has been selected as a semi-finalist in the Most Fundable Companies Competition.
Yuki has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and holds multiple patents related to endovascular devices and embolic materials. He serves as a reviewer for numerous journals including Stroke, AJNR, Neurosurgery, and Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery, and is a guest editor for Frontiers in Neurology. He is a member of the International Committee of the Japanese Society for Neuroendovascular Therapy and maintains active memberships in the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery and American Stroke Association.
