Jaesu Han
Biography
Jaesu Han, M.D., is Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UC Irvine. Han completed combined residency training in Family Medicine and Psychiatry at UC Davis and received a Doctor of Medicine from UC Davis School of Medicine. His work focuses on integrated behavioral health care and training clinicians to provide mental health services in primary care settings.
Han served as Training Director for the UC Davis Family Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Program from 2008 to 2017 and was Co-Instructor of Record for the Doctoring 1 course at UC Davis School of Medicine. At UC Irvine, he serves as Behavioral Health Curriculum Director for the Department of Family Medicine and directs multiple seminar series for psychiatry residents. He has been a faculty member for the Primary Care Psychiatry Train the Trainers Fellowship Program since 2016 and served as practice coach for the Inland Empire Health Plan's Behavioral Health Integration programs. Han served as President of the Orange County Chapter of the California Academy of Family Physicians from 2024 to 2025 and was President of the Association of Korean American Psychiatrists from 2015 to 2018.
Han has co-authored publications on integrated care models, training psychiatry residents to work at the interface of mental health and primary care, and management of comorbid medical and psychiatric conditions. He served as Co-Principal Investigator on a $1.35 million California Department of Mental Health educational grant for the Integrated Medicine and Psychiatry Ambulatory Residency Training program. Han is board certified by both the American Board of Family and Community Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
