Biography

Jeffrey Yoonjae Ahn, M.D., is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of California, Irvine. He received his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in 2017, completed his internal medicine residency at Loma Linda University, and served as Chief Resident at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center before completing his Hematology Oncology Fellowship at UC Irvine in 2024. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology.

Ahn's research has focused on cancer therapeutics and molecular mechanisms across multiple malignancies. His early work at Emory University examined CXCR4 receptor inhibition in breast cancer models, while his medical school research investigated IDO-blockade effects in glioblastoma cells. His clinical research has evaluated immune checkpoint inhibitors in non-hematologic malignancies, treatment patterns in hepatocellular carcinoma patients with liver dysfunction, and the correlation between CEA and circulating DNA in advanced colorectal cancer. He has published work on thyroid dysfunction from fibroblast growth factor receptor inhibitors and immunotherapy combinations in non-small cell lung cancer.

Ahn is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in 2016 and received the Walter Shepeard Achievement Award in 2017. During his training, he served as Chief Resident and supervised internal medicine residents in outpatient clinics while leading teaching sessions for medical students on internal medicine fundamentals.
