Jaelyn Otomo

Biography

Jaelyn Otomo is a Junior Research Specialist at the University of California, Irvine, where she works at the UCI Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorder Center. In this role, Otomo shadows physicians, assists in assessing patient cases, and engages with academic forums on autism and developmental disorders. She is also a Junior Research Specialist at University of California, Irvine, in the field of gastroenterology, where she has helped with on projects focused on readability of patient education materials, POEMs, and green endoscopy.She also served as an Ophthalmic Intern and Scribe at Orange County Eye Institute, where she documents clinical encounters, assists with patient intake and vision testing, and supports clinic operations.

Otomo earned a B.S. in Human Biology and Society with a minor in Disability Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2023, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Her academic background combines biological sciences with social perspectives on disability, informing her clinical and research work with neurodevelopmental populations.

During her undergraduate years, Otomo served as President of Samahang Pilipino from 2022 to 2023 and has been a member of Kappa Psi Epsilon since 2021. She is certified in CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention, and speaks conversational Spanish and Japanese in addition to English.
