Biography

Jeremy P. Harris, M.D., M.Phil., is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, Irvine, where he also serves as Director of Thoracic Radiation Oncology at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Harris received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Stanford University, where he completed his residency training in radiation oncology, and holds a Master of Philosophy in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, where he studied as a Churchill Scholar. His clinical and research focus centers on thoracic malignancies and sarcomas, with particular emphasis on combining radiation therapy with novel treatment modalities and addressing health disparities in cancer care.

Dr. Harris has secured multiple research grants as principal investigator, including an NCI Early Career Cancer Clinical Investigator Award and funding for clinical trials investigating combinations of immunotherapy with stereotactic ablative radiotherapy for sarcoma patients and novel applications of pulsed electric field ablation with radiation for lung tumors. He serves as principal investigator for a multi-institutional NCI-funded Phase III randomized trial testing ultra-hypofractionated radiation versus standard fractionation for high-risk soft tissue sarcoma. His research portfolio also includes studies examining financial toxicity in cancer patients and cost-effectiveness analyses of cancer screening programs.

Dr. Harris maintains active roles in national cooperative groups, serving on the SWOG Radiation Oncology Committee, Sarcoma Working Group, and Early Therapeutics and Rare Cancers Committee, as well as the NRG Developmental Therapeutics RT Committee. He serves as Associate Section Editor for Thoracic Cancers at the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics.
