She received her M.D. from Zhejiang University School of Medicine in China and completed her Master of Science degree at Brigham Young University. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, and is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Lu has maintained an active clinical practice as a hospitalist at VA Long Beach since 2012 and at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs since 2012, where she provides comprehensive inpatient medical care and supervises medical trainees. Prior to her clinical career, she spent over a decade in biomedical research, working as a Staff Research Associate at UCLA from 1994 to 2005, where she contributed to studies on cardiac physiology and molecular biology. Her research resulted in multiple publications in journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Circulation Research.
Lu is bilingual in English and Chinese and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Society of Hospital Medicine. She has presented case reports at Combined Army/Air Force American College of Physicians meetings on topics including coronary artery anomalies and electrocardiographic findings in subarachnoid hemorrhage.
