
Julie H. Youm
Biography
Julie H. Youm, Ph.D., is Associate Dean for Education Compliance and Quality and Director of Educational Technology at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. As a seasoned leader in educational technology and medical education administration, Youm has spent over a decade leading institutional accreditation and compliance efforts, curriculum management, and technology integration initiatives in medical education.
Youm served as the national chair of the AAMC Group on Information Resources and the Communications Chair for the AAMC GEA Medical Education Scholarship Research and Evaluation section, has been an active member of the AAMC Curriculum Inventory Steering Committee and recently completed her term as Chair of the Educational Methods Working Group for the AAMC MedBiquitous Program. She was recognized for her national contributions in 2025 as the recipient of the AAMC Group on Information Resources Vince Sheehan Service Award. Youm disseminates her work in peer-reviewed publications and has presented her research at numerous regional, national and international conferences. Her research focuses on the integration and application of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in medical education.
Youm received a Ph.D. in Cognitive Studies from Columbia University, where she was awarded the Ben and Grace Wood Fellowship in Learning Technologies. She is also an Apple Distinguished Educator.
