Kenn Huber
Lecturer - Mathematics Department, University of California, Irvine
Professor - Mathematics Department, Irvine Valley College
Biography
Kenn Huber is a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Irvine, and a Professor in the Mathematics Department at Irvine Valley College. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics with a focus on Probability Modeling from the University of California, Irvine in 2012, and his B.S. in Mathematics from the same institution in 2006. Huber has been teaching at UCI since 2006 and at Irvine Valley College since 2014, accumulating over 22 years of experience in mathematics and probability.
Huber's research centers on probability modeling and polymer systems. His doctoral dissertation examined disorder relevance for continuous time polymer models, combining methodologies from discrete and continuous polymer models to create new theoretical frameworks. He has published research on continuous time homo-polymer models and stochastic differential equations. In 2024, he authored "Precalculus to Calculus: Mastering the Math Continuum," a textbook designed for calculus courses with precalculus support. He has also served as lead author for four Open Educational Resource textbooks for upper division mathematics courses.
At both institutions, Huber teaches a comprehensive range of mathematics courses from pre-algebra through advanced topics including differential equations, linear algebra, and probability theory. He has developed over 140 calculus lecture videos for online instruction and created curriculum materials for various course levels. Huber serves as coordinator for all Pre-Calculus courses at Irvine Valley College and has chaired committees on curriculum development and hiring. He has mentored student research groups focused on mathematics education and has participated in classroom-based research studies examining different teaching methodologies.
