Biography

Mona Rezaei, M.D., is a Clinical Health Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology, Neuromuscular Medicine Division, at UC Irvine Health. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran, and completed a neuromuscular fellowship at the University of California San Diego. Rezaei is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and holds a diplomate in neuromuscular medicine.

Rezaei's clinical and research focus centers on neuromuscular disorders, including myasthenia gravis, inflammatory neuropathies, motor neuron diseases, small fiber neuropathy, autonomic neuropathy and muscular dystrophies. She has served as Co-Director of the ALS Center of Excellence at UC Davis Health and has been a site investigator in multiple clinical trials, including studies evaluating treatments for ocular myasthenia gravis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). Her earlier research experience includes work in stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury and neuroendoscopic surgery outcomes.

Prior to her current position, Rezaei held faculty appointments at UC Davis Health in both the Department of Neurology and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She has delivered numerous didactic lectures to medical students, residents, and fellows on topics ranging from inflammatory demyelinating neuropathies to motor neuron disease. Rezaei has also served as an NGO representative at the United Nations Headquarters in New York for the Family Health Association of Iran and is a member of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, American Autonomic Association and the American Academy of Neurology.
