He also serves as a Staff Physician at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. Kabutey received his M.D. from Albany Medical College and completed general surgery residency at Drexel University College of Medicine, followed by fellowships in interventional radiology at Boston University School of Medicine and vascular surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medical College. His training in both interventional radiology and vascular surgery provides him with expertise in open and endovascular approaches to vascular disease.
Kabutey's clinical and research interests focus on aortic disease, venous disorders, hemodialysis access, and vascular trauma. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and multiple book chapters on topics including endovascular dialysis interventions, abdominal aortic aneurysms, renal revascularization, pelvic congestion syndrome, and endovascular management of complex vascular conditions. Kabutey serves as principal investigator or co-investigator on multiple clinical trials evaluating novel vascular devices and therapies, including studies of human acellular vessels, drug-eluting technologies, and endovascular techniques for aortic and peripheral arterial disease.
Kabutey has held numerous leadership positions in professional organizations, including Treasurer Secretary of the Southern California Vascular Surgery Society, Program Committee Member of the Western Vascular Society. He has served on the Medical Executive Committee at UC Irvine and chairs multiple institutional committees related to surgical education and quality improvement. Kabutey received the John Connolly Teaching Award from UC Irvine in 2020 and was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2016.
