Tom No
Biography
Tom No is a Junior Specialist in the Curiosity and Innovation Laboratory at the University of California, Irvine, where he assists with clinical research recruitment, patient chart reviews, and porcine model protocols while shadowing physicians in the department of urology. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cellular Biology with minors in Korean Language and Culture from Vanderbilt University in 2024, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.95 GPA. He has also worked as a medical scribe in the Department of Endocrinology at Children's Hospital of Orange County.
No has contributed to research examining perioperative oxygen treatment effects on renal ischemia and reperfusion, vascular reactivity, and catalytic antibodies in viral disease pathogenesis. His work has resulted in co-authorship on two peer-reviewed publications in Shock and Anesthesia and Analgesia, examining how hyperoxia impairs vascular function and increases kidney injury during renal ischemia and reperfusion in mouse models. He has also contributed to multiple abstracts presented at national conferences including the Shock Society Annual Meeting and the International Anesthesia Research Society.
No has served in various leadership roles including Treasurer of Vanderbilt Heart Strings, Secretary of the Vanderbilt Pre-Medical Book Club, and Family Head for the Asian American Student Association. He is an Eagle Scout and has volunteered as a counselor for Crisis Text Line since 2021. He currently works as a medical scribe at Children's Hospital of Orange County in the Department of Endocrinology.
