Shaival Patel

Biography

Shaival Patel, M.D., is Assistant Clinical Professor V in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care at UCI Medical Center. He serves as Director of Ambulatory Anesthesia Rotation, where he focuses on resident education and operational efficiency in the operating room. Patel received his M.D. from Chicago Medical School and completed his anesthesiology residency training at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center in New York and the University of Washington in Seattle.

Prior to joining UCI, Patel practiced anesthesia in private practice for over 15 years across multiple institutions in Southern California. His clinical experience includes work at Marina Del Rey Hospital, where he provided anesthesia services for professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL undergoing spine procedures. He has developed expertise in regional anesthesia techniques, including nerve stimulation and ultrasound-guided blocks, as well as ambulatory anesthesia and acute pain management.

Patel previously held an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Anesthesia at the University of Southern California, where he focused on ENT anesthesia and ultrasound-guided regional blocks. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds a full physician license in California. Patel is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the California Society of Anesthesiologists, and serves as a mentor in the ExCEL Mentorship Program at UCI.
