Siwei Dong

Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery, Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery

Biography

Siwei Dong, DO, MS, is Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at University of California, Irvine Medical Center. She completed an integrated vascular surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where she served as Vascular Quality Officer in 2023. Dong received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University and holds a Master of Science in Medical Science from Boston University.

Dong's clinical and research work focuses on vascular surgery, with particular emphasis on aortic aneurysm repair and complex vascular reconstructions. Her research has examined surgical approaches to aortic aneurysm repair, renal artery management during open aneurysm repair, and the natural history of aberrant right subclavian artery. She has also investigated vascular manifestations in connective tissue disorders such as Marfan syndrome.

During her medical training, Dong conducted laboratory research on cardiovascular physiology, including investigations of BMP2-inducible kinase in cardiomyocyte injury at Des Moines University and studies on electroacupuncture effects on blood pressure regulation at University of California, Irvine. She received the Iowa Medical Society Global Health Scholarship for international health work in Rwanda and was inducted into Sigma Sigma Phi Osteopathic Honor Society.
