Biography

Dr. Shima Khanahmadi, M.D., is an Assistant Specialist and Clinical Research Coordinator in the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine. She received her M.D. from the University of Tabriz School of Medicine in 2016 and completed her anesthesiology residency at Urmia University of Medical Sciences in 2022. At UC Irvine, she serves as head coordinator for clinical trials investigating analgesic responses to opioids in fibromyalgia patients and noninvasive monitoring of chronic spine pain.

Prior to her current position, Khanahmadi worked as an anesthesiologist at Diba Clinic in Iran, where she conducted pre-operative evaluations, provided anesthesia services, and consulted patients in a pain clinic. During her residency, she completed rotations across multiple surgical specialties and received training in advanced anesthesiology techniques including fiber-optic intubation, regional anesthesia, and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks. Her research during residency focused on temperature monitoring during cardiac surgery, hemodynamic changes in spinal anesthesia, and pain management in various surgical procedures.

From 2016 to 2018, Khanahmadi served as head of a rural medical and health center, managing a staff of 15 employees and overseeing public health services for 15,000 residents. In this role, she monitored disease patterns, organized health education programs, and coordinated with local government on epidemic control and preventative health measures. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on topics including postoperative pain management, endotracheal tube cuff pressure during cardiac surgery, and serum biomarkers in diabetes and hypertension.
