
Shawn P. Griffin
Biography
Shawn P. Griffin, PharmD, BCOP, is Assistant to the Dean for PharmD Student Professional Development and Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice at the UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. He also serves as a Pharmacist Specialist in the Hematology/Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program at UCI Health. His clinical and research work focuses on hematologic malignancies and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, with particular interests in treatment outcomes for underserved populations, pharmacokinetics of conditioning regimens, and the optimization of oncology pharmacy practice.
Griffin has led and contributed to research funded by the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and the American Cancer Society, including studies examining pegaspargase-induced liver injury in Hispanic patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and pharmacokinetic optimization of melphalan-based conditioning regimens. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of the California Chapter of the Oncology Pharmacy Network and is a member of the Hematology Research & Outcomes (HERO) Consortium. Griffin is a past recipient of the HOPA Volunteer of the Year Award and the HOPA Pharmacy Practice Research Article of the Year Award.
Griffin completed his Doctor of Pharmacy with Distinction at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy, followed by an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency at UF Health Shands Hospital and a PGY2 Hematology/Oncology residency at UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital. He holds board certification as an oncology pharmacist (BCOP) and has been an invited reviewer for numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice, the European Journal of Haematology, and JCO Oncology Practice.
