Biography
Jun Xie is an Associate Specialist in the Department of Urology at the University of California, Irvine. Xie has worked at UCI since 2004, progressing through positions in the Departments of Orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Epidemiology, and Urology. Prior to joining UCI, Xie worked as a librarian in China and as an accounting clerk in Montreal, Canada.
Xie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science from Zhongshan University in Guangzhou, China, and completed vocational studies in accounting and automated accounting and finance at Shadd Business Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Xie's technical expertise spans molecular biology techniques, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, animal management, and quality control for stem cell-based clinical trials.
Xie has contributed to 19 peer-reviewed publications and 16 conference abstracts, primarily focused on cancer research including studies of Wnt signaling pathways, natural compounds in cancer prevention and treatment, and therapeutic approaches for prostate, bladder, and bone cancers. The research has examined mechanisms of tumor growth, metastasis, and drug resistance across multiple cancer types, with recent work exploring copper metabolism and metabolic pathways in cancer therapy.
