Justin C. Yeh
Biography
Justin C. Yeh, M.D., is Chief of Critical Care Medicine at Children's Hospital of Orange County and HS Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine. He received his M.D. from Albany Medical College and completed residency training in pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Orange County, followed by fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at Tulane University Health Sciences Center and Children's National Medical Center, and pediatric critical care at Children's National Medical Center. He is board certified in general pediatrics, pediatric cardiology, and pediatric critical care.
Yeh has held faculty positions at Stanford University School of Medicine, University of California San Diego School of Medicine, and University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he served as Associate Professor and Chief of Cardiac Intensive Care at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. His clinical work has focused on cardiac intensive care, mechanical circulatory support, and ECMO, serving as Director of Cardiac ECMO at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and Director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Rady Children's Hospital. At UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, he served as Co-Director of the Heart Institute and Administrative Director of the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Program, with additional responsibilities for cardiac intensive care services at partner programs in Florida.
Yeh's research interests center on improving care for children requiring mechanical circulatory support, particularly ventricular assist devices, including clinical decision-making regarding device implantation timing, strategies for high-risk patient populations, and the psychological impact of VAD care. He has contributed to peer-reviewed publications examining outcomes in pediatric heart failure, mechanical ventilation after cardiac surgery, and ventricular assist device management. He serves on the editorial boards of multiple journals and is a member of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Fellowship Sub-Board Steering Committee, working to develop systematic approaches to fellow training and subspecialty recognition.
