Yael Marks, PharmD
Biography
Yael Marks, PharmD, is a Health Sciences Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of California Irvine School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She coordinates multiple courses annually and teaches on topics including global health, geriatrics, clinical chemistry, and diabetes, while also providing clinical services at a Federally Qualified Health Center. Marks received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 2021 and completed a Global Health Fellowship at the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2024. Marks is working towards completion of her Master of Public Health through SUNY Buffalo.
Marks has established a research program focused on health equity and global health, with particular emphasis on marginalized populations. She serves as Co-Principal Investigator on a grant examining racial and ethnic disparities in folic acid intake using NIH All of Us data, funded by the UCI Genetic Epidemiology Research Institute. Her work on hypertension management in refugee, immigrant, and minority populations has been supported by grants from the University at Buffalo Civic Engagement Research Fund and the New York State American College of Clinical Pharmacy. She has published research on topics ranging from pharmacogenomics clinical decision support to medication shortages in psychiatric care, and has led interprofessional global health experiences in the Dominican Republic, Belize, Jamaica, and virtually in Ghana.
Marks is active in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, where she serves as Chair-Elect of the Global Health Practice and Research Network and previously served as Global Health Social Media Liaison. She has presented her work at national and international conferences and has been recognized with the ACCP Member Spotlight in 2024 and as an APhA-APPM Presentation Merit Award Finalist in 2020. At UCI, she serves on multiple committees including the Education Committee and the College of Health Sciences Faculty Assembly Allied Health and Interprofessional Education Committee, and was elected chair of the Volunteer Faculty Committee for the 2025-2026 academic year.
