David E. Zoeter

Biography

David E. Zoeter is an Associate Specialist for Research in Cancer Survivorship in the Department of Population Health and Disease Prevention at the Joe C. Wen School of Population & Public Health at the University of California, Irvine. His research focuses on biobehavioral interventions for cancer survivors and caregivers, with particular emphasis on young adult populations and Latino/Hispanic communities. David coordinates multiple clinical trials examining emotion regulation therapy and stress-related biomarkers in cancer populations, overseeing participant enrollment, data collection, and biological sample processing.

David serves as primary study coordinator for several research projects in the Behavioral Medicine Research Lab, including a biobehavioral intervention for Latino/Hispanic young adult men with cancer and a study comparing stress-related biomarkers for biobehavioral research. His work involves managing participants through longitudinal study timepoints, developing data collection tools, processing salivary and blood samples, performing fidelity coding of intervention sessions, and training research assistants. He also maintains IRB protocols and prescreens potential participants through the UCI Health network.

Prior to his current position, David worked as a research assistant at Highland Hospital's Adult Immunology Clinic, where he conducted quantitative data analysis of HIV-positive patients. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Psychological Science from the University of California, Irvine. David is affiliated with the Children's Hospital of Orange County as an affiliate researcher and holds memberships in the Society of Behavioral Medicine, the Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society, and the Association for Psychological Science.
